A Luxurious Fake - CSS Case Study

Luxury Resort Hotels - CSS Case StudyIn true form of a passionate web geek, when I’m not working with clients and creating websites I create fake websites.

In my own defense it’s been snowing pretty hard, even though just a few days ago it was 21 degrees Celsius. If that isn’t evidence for environment change I don’t know what is.

The Fake Luxury Hotel Resort Website

Sometimes it’s fun to create something in which you are the sole “decider“. When a lot of minds are involved in a project the focus can get lost in the ideas. Taking a project from concept to fruition it really opens your eyes to where your strengths and weaknesses are.

I chose the hotel resort industry, mostly because I would love to go on a vacation in a tropical area right about now. Did I mention it’s snowing here and it’s April, I mean c’mon.

My focus for this mock-up was the reservation form, so I turned to some great A List Apart articles on form design and usability. It was also a pretty good challenge in terms of cross browser compatibility and valid coding ( Check the Xhtml and CSS validity with the W3C Validator.)

For the date pickers in the reservation form I turned to NoGray.com for their great Javascript calendar platform. It’s an efficient way to give people a visual option in choosing specific dates and planning for future trips.
