I took the one less travelled

Time has rocketed by since my official leap into self employment. Now on this quiet crisp Saturday morning I have a moment to reflect on the last month (or so).

Although a month may not sound like a long time, I remember it quite differently. My memories play out more like a harrowing psychological thriller filled with emotional ups and downs with extreme moments of despair and enlightenment. I would compare my experiences to an extreme test in mental strength. Juggling clients, design, and everything on top, all the while the Lethbridge wind is constantly screaming in the background. Alright, it wasn’t that bad but it certainly isn’t the easiest thing I’ve ever done.

I’ve learned a wealth of information just in these past four weeks. A variety of situations have showed me what I’m doing right, and what I am bombing at. My first and biggest lesson learned would have to be this; I need a business line. There is nothing better than checking your answering machine and after a heart-warming message from your mother is somebody asking for a “quick update”.

A month into this endeavor may be a bit early to make speculations but all in all it’s been a great time. Meeting different people from all spectrum’s of business, sharing ideas and advice. Freelancing is truly a universal job filled with twists and turns I know I wouldn’t find at any cubicle or desk.
